Pleasing God is the choice we must make in order to relate well with Him as we should, as Human beings.
If we can recall the first time, we became aware of ourselves individually, from the age of zero to 2 years old and up till now, our thought would not have been far from the W Questions: Who am I? Where do I come from? Who made or brought me here? Why am I here and What am I doing here? What is my Purpose? So many W questions!
In answering these Questions, let’s think of Creation. First things First, Humans belong to the Creator, Almighty God, who created us without our help. He made us with His word, “Let us make Man in our own image and Likeness”.(Genesis 1: 26) This Divine Relationship was started by God, He wants us to relate with His likeness in us, Spirit to Spirit.
Step back, pause and think about God’s relationship and friendship with us. A relationship started with love before we were in our mother’s womb. No matter how long our journey or where the journey of life will take us, the choice of accepting God’s love and friendship is the reason for our existence.
In life there are choices to be made; the choice we make and action we take each Moment determines how we relate with God. We are required to be participatory in this relationship with God, to involve our whole self for it to be meaningful. The gift of God’s friendship must be wanted and accepted, only by this, can we please God and enjoy communion with Him.
Our desire for Him must be stronger than the desire to drink cold water on a sunny day after a long walk.
True, we cannot reciprocate the great love God has lavished on us from creation, but we can try. And when we try to love God through loving other human beings, God is pleased.
And to love Him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your soul, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. Mark 12:33
What does loving God through other humans entails? Simple word of Jesus:’’ love your neighbor as yourself’’. Do unto others as you would them do to you. (THE GOLDEN RULE Matthew 7:12) Therefore in all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you; do you, even so to them.
Loving others also means selflessness, which is godliness. God’s great love for us shows His selfless love. And we must resemble our Father whose image is in us.
You desire care and to be loved by others, love others too
You want to be forgiven of your faults, forgive others also
You want to have food and live a fulfilled life, allow others to have as well
You want others to show mercy and be kind to you, do you like wise
You expect others to treat you right, stand by the truth and treat people right too
You like it when others are honest to you, be honest as well to them
We can go on and on………………………………………………………………….
WHATEVER YOU WANT DONE TO YOU, DO SAME AND EVEN MORE TO OTHERS, FOR YOUR CREATOR TO BE PRAISED BECAUSE OF YOUR DEEDS.
A humble and contrite heart pleases God. And those who have a broken heart and a contrite spirit are willing to do anything and everything that God asks of them, without resistance or resentment.
Our Creator loves us and wants us to change from following the way that leads to separation from Him; to following His word and its beneficial laws that leads to eternity in His presence. He also wants us to relate with Him as true worshippers who worship “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24); having a humble spirit that is willing to change, as well as to have a reverence and love of His Word, which reveals the essence of truth (John 17:17).
So, Moment by Moment, let us try to love and please God. It’s possible only if we open our individual heart to accept God’s great love and the gift of His Divine Relationship. This choice we must make for our sake and for Eternity in God’s presence.
God is pleased with those who keep His command, to love Him and other human beings as themselves.
